Current Project
We are currently raising money towards the Early Births Fund for the Neonatal Unit at St. Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey.
Over the past 20 years the care of babies born very early, or with unexpected problems, has inproved immensely, with great improvements in survival and outlook. This increasingly specialised work requires highly trained staff and dedicated intensive care cots. In Surrey, St. Peter’s provides the intensive care needed for the smallest and sickest newborn babies but the current unit is not large enough so they plan to build a new nursery for 8 intensive care cots. Building work costs are covered but not so the new medical equipment required.
Each Neonatal Intensive care cot needs an incubator, a ventilator, a CPAP machine for respiratory support, 6 infusion pumps and a set of monitors for pulse, respiration, blood pressure, temperature, oxygen and blood gases, at a total cost of approximately £80,000.
We have raised £13,200 out of £14,500 for an incubator, and are trying to raise further funds to furnish the remainder of the cot.
